The problem
Contract manufacturers track lots in one system, costs in a spreadsheet and client questions over email. Swift tracks every batch from raw material to finished goods, calculates true cost with rolling weighted-average materials plus labor and overhead, flags reorders, runs QC checkpoints and recall simulations, and gives brand owners a portal to see live inventory and submit production requests.
Key decisions
The platform had to be sold to other manufacturers and industries under their own brand.
Build for one manufacturer, or design multi-tenant from the first screen.
Multi-tenant and white-label from the start: tenancy, theming and a client portal are part of the information architecture rather than a later layer.
More to design before the first customer. Nothing to redesign for the second.
